The Zanaki are an ethnic and linguistic group from the heart of Mara Region, Tanzania, to the east of Lake Victoria. In 1987 the Zanaki population was estimated to number 62,000.〔http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=zak〕 The group is subdivided into the Birus and the Buturis.〔 Julius Nyerere (1922–1999), the founder and first president of Tanzania was a Zanaki and was the son of the King Burito Nyerere (1860–1942), who was chief of the Zanaki, and of Christina Mgaya wa Nyang'ombe (1897-1997). They are closely related to the Kisii, or Abagusii community of the neighboring Kenya with a lot of commanalities in culture and language. It is even rumoured that Chief Nyerere, the father to the founding president was originally from Kisii, Kenya. It is also said President Nyerere was a Tutsi or had Tutsi ancestry which can be traced to Rwanda. And he did look like a Tutsi, in terms of facial features, although that does not prove he was one. His first-born child, Andrew Nyerere, said his father had Luo ancestry. He stated that in response to a question that was asked in Kiswahili on Tanzania's leading online discussion group, Jamiiforums, on 27 February 2015: “Is it true that Kambarage (Nyerere), Kawawa (Rashidi Kawawa, former vice president and prime minister), and Malecela (John Malecela, former minister of foreign affairs, vice president and prime minister) were not Tanzanians?” Andrew Nyerere responded, mostly in Kiswahili, by stating: “The father of Mwalimu Nyerere (President Mwalimu Julius Nyerere) was Chief Nyerere Burito. The father of Chief Nyerere was Burito. The father of Burito was Mbonosi. The name of Mbonosi's father is not known but he was a Luo. It gets better. Maria Nyerere (the wife of President Nyerere) also, if you go back two or three people (two or three generations), you will find out that they were Luo.” Veteran Kenyan columnist and political analyst, Philip Ochieng, a Luo, stated in an article in the ''Daily Nation'', Nairobi, Kenya, that the Zanaki, an ethnic group to which President Nyerere belonged, were related by blood to Ochieng's sub-ethnic group. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Zanaki people」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
